dark moon, bright stars

Hello dear friend,

Can you feel the season changing? Here on the northern California coastside, the relentless fog has finally lifted revealing clear blue skies and bright sunshine. Yet the crisp breeze reminds us that fall is in the air.

Being able to gaze at the stars on a moonless night is something that I do not take for granted. So, during this new moon I wanted to be in touch with you to share some reflections. I miss you!

Often during our New Moon Ceremonies on ZOOM, I play for you an inspiring video as food for thought. The beautifully produced short filmbelow is worthy of contemplation as we enter this cycle of reflection during the new moon.

The film is about the crisis of belonging, the high price of progress, and the return journey home, as told by author/philosopher Charles Eisenstein. Here is an excerpt from the uplifting conclusion:

“The very fact that you are here with your aspirations and your yearnings for a more beautiful world means that it is possible and that you have a role to play in it. I cannot explain why that is true, but there is a certain logic to it, and that logic draws on the knowledge that there is intelligence in all things, that the world is not just an accident.”

Watch this 14-minute short film called "To Be At Home In the World."
And so we do our inner work, connect with our compassionate spirit teachers, and most importantly, reach out to our fellow human beings, strengthening our sense of community and belonging. Then, we light up the world with our smile and joy as the Hindus are doing right now during the Diwali Festival of Light.
May the long time sun

Shine upon you,

All love surround you,

And the pure light within you

Guide you on your way.

Hugs and infinite blessings,

Sonya
